Usher Taps Ella Mai for Sultry “Don’t Waste My Time” Single

Written by on December 15, 2019

After dropping off his collaborative album, A, with Zaytoven last October, Usher is back on the scene with a sultry new track featuring Ella Mai. Titled “Don’t Waste My Time,” the record shows off the R&B singer’s distinctive voices as they harmonize about keeping it real in the game of love.
While Usher has been relatively quiet over the past year since the release of A, Mai has continued to pick up steam as a newcomer in the industry. It’s quite the nod for an R&B veteran such as Usher to tap the emerging artist, though it’s unsurprising given her rise to success. Her smash hit “Boo’d Up” took off in the summer of 2018, definitively becoming one of the most popular songs of the year, leading to a remix with Nicki Minaj and Quavo, and eventually earning her a Grammy win (her first ever).
Mai has picked up another nomination at the upcoming Grammy awards for her self-titled project, Ella Mai. Though Usher is not nominated this go-round — and hasn’t been since 2014 — the singer already holds eight wins and 22 nominations under his belt. Listen to the duo’s smooth “Don’t Waste My Time” single in the video above or scroll below to stream it now.
Recently, Mai synced up with Mahalia on the song “What You Did,” dropping off a blaze-filled music video in September.
