Here’s How Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reportedly Celebrated Their First Wedding Anniversary

Royal experts Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand shared in their book that the freshly minted Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent lunch with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, who was in town to meet baby Archie. The couple’s only child was born on May 6, 2019, just a few days before the milestone.
“On the anniversary of their first year of marriage, Harry and Meghan enjoyed a traditional Sunday lunch with Doria, her last meal before traveling back to L.A.,” Scobie and Durand wrote, per People. “Her five weeks at Frogmore had flown by, but she had to get back to work.”
The authors—who spoke to many sources close to the royal couple, but did not interview the Duke and Duchess—also wrote that the prince gifted his wife a thoughtful—and shiny—gift in honor of the anniversary. “Harry also surprised his wife of one year with a ring that he had created with the jeweler to the stars Lorraine Schwartz, a favorite of Meghan’s,” the authors claimed.
In May 2020, Scobie also reported on the couple’s second anniversary for Harper’s Bazaar. According to his source, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “enjoyed a low-key celebration, spending part of the day looking back at their 2018 wedding with a number of people over video calls—including some of the vendors who helped bring their Windsor Castle ceremony and receptions to life.”
“They all reminisced about what a beautiful and magical day it was,” his source continued, before sharing some details on their other activities. Apparently, the couple spent their anniversary eating Mexican food and drinking Margaritas—which I wholeheartedly support.
As for gifts, a source told Us Weekly that the couple exchanged some very sentimental presents. “Meghan designed Harry’s card, and hand-wrote a beautiful, sentimental message inside expressing her love for him,” the source said. “Harry surprised Meghan with a huge, stunning bouquet of roses and a ring, which she loves.”
