From Billie Eilish to Billy Porter, Here’s Every Musical Performance from the Democratic National Convention

Written by on August 20, 2020

Turns out, the Democratic National Convention truly has turned out to be the best music festival happening this year. As the first ever virtual convention closes out its week of festivities, the lineup of artists who have stepped up to soundtrack the week’s events runs deeper than the initial schedule suggested.Dotted in between speeches from the likes of Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris, President Barack Obama, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, artists are offering a bit of a respite from the heavy politics—but not so much that they aren’t chiming in a bit themselves. Of course, when you have politically outspoken artists on the roster like John Legend and The Chicks, it’d be crazy to imagine a couple political barbs wouldn’t be thrown.

On night three, Billie Eilish appeared in a neon-lit backyard to preface her performance of “My Future,” saying to the camera, “Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about. We need leaders who will solve problems like climate change and COVID, not deny them—leaders who will fight against systemic racism and inequality.” The 18-year-old, who is now able to vote in her first election this year, added, “Silence is not an option and we cannot sit this one out. We all have to vote like our lives and the world depend on it, because they do. The only way to be certain of the future is to make it ourselves.”With The Chicks closing out the week’s final night of festivities before Vice President Joe Biden accepts the Democratic nomination, take a look at the performances from the first three nights of the Democratic National Convention.Jennifer Hudson
