A night of new hairdos, call outs, and Yeezus for president. Here are your top five moments from the MTV Video Music Awards.

1. Justin Bieber premiers his Flock of Seagulls hairdo

The Canadian pop star known around the world for his luscious locks showed up on the red carpet with a throw-back ‘do, borrowed from the 1980s.

Looks like the two reigning pop culture queens have officially squashed their Twitter beef. After a ‘misunderstanding’ a few weeks back, Minaj had Swift appear with her on stage during “The Night Is Still Young”. . . and a few lines of Swift’s “Bad Blood” thrown in for good measure.

It all started when Minaj called out racism in the music industry on Twitter after getting snubbed with only three MTV VMA nominations. Swift took this as a personal attack, but later apologized.

3. Nicki Minaj calls out host Miley Cyrus

Swift isn’t the only one known to have thrown shade at Minaj in the last few weeks. In an interview with The New York Times, Cyrus said that she didn’t respect Minaj’s comments on racism in the music industry “because of the anger that came with it.” Backlash was swift with the internet calling Cyrus out on her attempt to ‘whitesplains’ racism to Minaj.

“Miley what’s good?” said Minaj after winning the award for Best Hip-Hop Video.

4. Did Bieber cry on stage?

I don’t know! But the confusion on Twitter is real.

Following his performance of “Where Are You Now” and his new single, “What Do You Mean” the pop star seemingly broke down in tears on stage.

Maybe he was thinking of Selena Gomez?

5. Kanye for President!

Taylor Swift presented Yeezus with the Video Vanguard award, the MTV equivalent of a lifetime achievement award, making light of the first time they met on the MTV stage in 2009.

During his acceptance speech, not only did West apologize to Taylor Swift for rushing the stage during her acceptance for Best Female Video six years ago – but he announced that he’ll be running for president in 2020?!Source: Top five moments from the MTV VMAs | Toronto Star
