Jacob Rees-Mogg told to stop impersonating Beano’s Walter the Softy

Tory darling Jacob Rees-Mogg has been issued with a legal letter from Beano telling him to stop masquerading as the comic book character Walter the Softy.

The makers of the comic book said the MP has adopted the same iconic side parting, round spectacles and dress sense as the well-known character.

They say the distinct similarities show that the Conservative MP for North east Somerset has been ‘masquerading’ as the the character.

Walter the Softy is a character in the iconic comic strip and is the frequent butt of the pranks of Denis the Menace and his trusted dog and sidekick Gnasher.

Tory darling Jacob Rees-Mogg has been issued with a legal letter from Beano telling him to stop masquerading as the comic book character Walter the Softy.

Rather than joining in the high jinx of the other characters he retreats to the Softy Enclosure.

Mr Rees-Mogg has reacted light-heartedly to the humorous legal letter.
