George and Charlotte to be page boys and bridesmaids at royal wedding

George and Charlotte to be page boys and bridesmaids at royal wedding

Most of the bridesmaids and page boys at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be their best friends’ children, it was revealed today.

The wedding at Windsor Castle will have an unconventional feel after the couple looked outside of the royal family for the ten boys and girls to take part.

Just two of the youngsters involved in the wedding party are royals – Harry’s niece, Princess Charlotte, three, and his nephew, four-year-old Prince George.

The three children of Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney – twins Brian and John, seven, and daughter Ivy, four – will also walk down the aisle on Saturday.

The bridesmaids for the service at St George’s Chapel in the castle grounds include Harry’s goddaughters, Zalie Warren, two, and Florence van Cutsem, three.

PRINCESS CHARLOTTE: Confident royal who is ‘very sweet’ but feisty

Age: Three

Parents: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge

The middle child and only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has made a name for herself for her royal confidence in recent weeks despite being just three years old.

It was Charlotte – Prince Harry’s niece – who led the way into the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital to meet new baby brother Prince Louis last month, giving a regal wave as she went.

Her parents say the fourth in line to the throne rules the roost, saying she is ‘very sweet’ but also feisty.

When Pippa Middleton married James Matthews in May last year, George and Charlotte were among the bridesmaids and pageboys.

Kate had to ‘sssh’ the helpers after they made too much noise, holding her finger to her lips to make sure they were quiet as they entered the church.

Charlotte started in January at Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington, which charges £3,000 a term for morning children and £1,800 in the afternoon.

Also involved are 36-year-old Meghan’s goddaughters, sisters Remi and Rylan Litt, aged six and seven respectively, and four-year-old Ivy Mulroney.

The other pageboys are 33-year-old Harry’s godson, Jasper Dyer, aged six, and seven-year-old twin brothers Brian and John Mulroney.

Florence’s cousin Grace van Cutsem famously stole the show in 2011 at William and Kate’s wedding when she covered her ears on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Kensington Palace announced this morning that Harry’s niece and nephew would be among Meghan’s young helpers at the nuptials in Windsor this weekend.

Charlotte and George are already skilled in the role, having performed the duty for the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister, Pippa Matthews, last year.

FLORENCE VAN CUTSEM: Major’s daughter whose cousin stole the show and Wills and Kate’s wedding

Age: Three

Parents: Major Nicholas van Cutsem and Alice van Cutsem

Florence is Prince Harry’s goddaughter, and the daughter of his long-standing family friend Major Nicholas van Cutsem and Alice van Cutsem.

Major van Cutsem, a major with the Household Cavalry’s Life Guards, has been a friend of Harry and William’s since childhood.

Florence’s cousin Grace made a name for herself on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011.

She was captured putting her hands over her ears and frowning because of the noise – just at the moment the couple kissed on the palace balcony – creating one of the best pictures of the day.

Major van Cutsem had an important role in the 2011 wedding when he escorted William and Kate along the procession route in London in a 1902 State Landau after their wedding at Westminster Abbey.

Prince George, who is four, is third in line to the throne and a future king.

William and Kate’s eldest child is said to be shyer than his younger sister Charlotte, and the duke has told how his son loves helicopters, flying and is obsessed with all things police-related.

Like Charlotte, George is rarely seen in public. The duke and duchess try to ensure their children are protected from media intrusion.

But the pair have appeared at key royal events such as the annual Trooping the Colour parade, and have joined William and Kate on official overseas tours.

He had his first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea in London last September.

Parents: Benita Litt and Darren Litt

Remi Litt is the six-year-old daughter of Meghan’s close friend Benita Litt and her husband Darren Litt.

Meghan is Remi’s godmother and in a since deleted Instagram post, the actress shared a picture of herself with the family – including her two ‘fairy god-daughters’ – showing them happily posing in front of a Christmas tree after spending the holidays together in 2016.

Benita runs her own brand agency under her name where she helps others to start businesses.

Meghan’s other goddaughter Rylan is seven years old and Mrs Litt’s oldest child.

Harry has paid tribute to former mentor and close friend Mark Dyer by requesting his son Jasper as a pageboy.

Meanwhile Meghan has publicly recognised one of her best friends, stylist Mrs Mulroney, by choosing her twin sons to take part in the wedding.

Mr Dyer, a redhead like the prince, was a supportive big brother figure for Harry during the 1990s and early 2000s.

It was during that period that the teenager was coming to terms with the death of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, in Paris in 1997.

Mrs Mulroney, who is married to Ben Mulroney, the son of former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney, was seen arriving at London Heathrow Airport today.

Zalie Warren is the daughter of Jake Warren, son of the Queen’s bloodstock and racing adviser John Warren, and his wife Zoe.

The youngster’s name is actually Isabel Veronica but she is nicknamed Ivy.

Jessica Mulroney runs a bridal store in Toronto, where Meghan used to film Suits, and is said to have helped the bride choose her wedding gown.

She is married to Ben Mulroney – son of former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney.

The professional wedding planner Mrs Mulroney has been dubbed ‘the Gwyneth Paltrow of Toronto’.

Meghan went on holiday with Mrs Mulroney to Positano on the Amalfi coast in 2016 in one of her last jaunts as a single woman before her engagement.

Their friendship has strengthened further since Meghan, then a young ingenue, moved to Toronto in 2011 to play Rachel Zane in the TV show Suits.

BRIAN AND JOHN MULRONEY: ‘Incredibly well-behaved’ seven-year-old twins of Meghan’s stylist

Ages: Both seven

Parents: Jessica Mulroney and Benedict Mulroney

The fraternal twin sons of Jessica and Ben Mulroney are seven years old – and older siblings to Ivy Mulroney.

In an interview with thestar.com in 2014, Mrs Mulroney described how the boys were best friends.

Brian and John Mulroney are Jessica and Ben Mulroney’s twin seven-year-olds

‘Ben was at the MMVAs (iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards) and John did something really sweet,’ she said. ‘He hugged Brian from behind and said, ‘Brian, you make me great’. ‘

The article described the children, who had two nannies, as ‘incredibly well-behaved’.
