Over the years Eminem has been through a lot. From his rough and tumble beginnings in Detroit to his tumultuous relationship with ex-wife Kim to his drug abuse problems following his explosive rise to fame, Slim Shady has seen it all.
But recently, the highly successful multi-platinum selling artist made a shocking confession regarding his mental health, while discussing his massive hit with Rihanna “Monster”. While annotating the song on RapGenius.com, he surprised fans with a very open admission about a mental disorder he’s been suffering with for years…
In the song, Eminem raps about having the disorder: “Cause the very thing that I love’s killing me / And I can’t conquer it / My OCD is conking me in the head, keep knocking.” While many thought that Em may have been using artistic liberties when describing his emotional state, Shady admitted in his annotations for the song, that he really has been suffering Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
In the revealing confession, Em admits: “I really do have O.C.D. it’s not funny b*tch,” Shady writes. OCD affects about 3 million people in America and causes its victims to participate in repetitive behaviour, that can be incredibly disruptive to everyday life.
