Cipha Sounds Leaves NYC’s Hot 97

For the past 17 years from being an intern for Funkmaster Flex to co-hosting the morning show to taking over Angie’s seat in the afternoon, DJ Cipha Sounds had announced on January 27 that he was leaving Hot 97 (WQHT). On a new episode of Juan Epstein, which is Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg’s podcast show, Ciph talked about his frustrations with Hot 97. He also talked about being selected to host the afternoon show, which is now hosted by Nessa and moving on to better endeavors. But leaving wasn’t very easy for him. Cipha Sounds had spoke on his departure from the station. “I never knew if it was mine if I could make it mine, I would’ve loved it,” he said during the podcast. “One boss told me one thing, another boss told me another thing. They then fired one of those bosses. Another boss came in and told me one things, and then a boss of another station came in and became our boss and told me another thing. All nice people, all different opinions on what the show should be and how it should run.” Cipha Sounds had also talked about his departure to his followers on his Instagram page.
