Jay Z Agrees To Pay Half Of His Royalties To Musician Bruno Spoerri For Uncleared Sample

Jay Z has recently paid half of the royalties from his 2013 song Versus to a Swiss Jazz musician named Bruno Spoerri after sampling the loop groove of the musician’s 1978 song Lilith – On The Way. The Timbaland and Swizz Beatz produced track is on Jay Z’s platinum selling album Magna Carta Holy Grail. At the time during the recording of the album, Timbaland and Swizz failed to get the sample cleared. Jay Z has agreed to pay 50% of the royalties to Spoerri. Spoerri said that he was flattered but the situation infuriated him. The musician said that all would it take was either a phone call or an email to the company and it would be relatively cheap.
